Crypto Price Today (July 8): Bitcoin Holds $108K, XRP Leads Majors as Market Steadies

Bitcoin steadied above the $108,000 mark on Tuesday afternoon, keeping the wider crypto market in the green after a choppy start to the week. The flagship coin’s resilience helped lift several large-cap tokens, easing fears of a deeper pull-back following last week’s tariff-linked jitters.

Earlier in the session the asset slipped toward $107,500, but bargain hunters stepped in within minutes. Traders kept watch on U.S. macro signals yet buying pressure persisted.

Ethereum , SOL and XRP With Mixed Price Action

While Bitcoin traded at around $108,800, up roughly 0.7% on the day, Ether hovered near $2,580. Solana’s SOL remained flat around $150, while XRP firmed to $2.29.

As of the time of writing, Ethereum posted a daily gain of 2.95% as it trades above $2600, after dipping to a daily low of around $2,525, a key support zone from the previous day. On the lower time frames, Ethereum is currently in an uptrend, though resistance near $2,620 may act as a barrier to further buying momentum.

Solana (SOL) is recovering from the previous day’s losses but continues to fluctuate around the $150 psychological level, moving roughly $3 up and down. This suggests a consolidation phase, with SOL’s market capitalization still holding just above $80 billion. It reached an intraday high of $152.5 but currently shows a daily loss of 0.31%.

Ripple’s XRP, on the other hand, is down approximately 1.78% on the day, with a market cap of $135.18 billion. The token is trading near the daily high, which could signal either a retracement following the previous day’s sell-off or a recovery move targeting the nearest 1-hour resistance zone.

Market Overview

Real-time figures from CoinMarketCap put total crypto capitalization above $3.3 trillion, with Bitcoin dominance near 64 %. Also, the crypto trading volume currently sits at $98.53 billion which is a little bit up from the previous day’s value and suggests a minimal increase in buying and selling pressure.

While prices have shown strength, some analysts say low trading volume and rising volatility are signals that the market could face near-term pressure. Analysts added that a pause in MicroStrategy’s regular spot buys removed a short-term prop yet did not dent broader bullish conviction.

With traders eyeing Wednesday’s release of the latest Federal Reserve minutes, near-term direction may hinge on fresh clues about U.S. rate policy. Upcoming consumer-price data on Thursday and Friday’s options expiry could inject new volatility, yet for now the market seems content to consolidate just below spring highs while waiting for a catalyst to push Bitcoin toward fresh records.
